Fit & sizing

Age labels differ between brands. Measure your child, compare with the atelier chart below, then choose the size on the dress — or message us if you need help.

How to measure

Use a soft tape. Light clothing is fine — snug, not tight. The numbers on the diagram match the steps below. All figures are in inches.

A girl in a dress shown from the front and back, with numbered red lines: 1 shoulder width, 2 chest, 3 chest length, 4 waist, 5 dress length, 6 sleeves.
  1. Shoulder width (back)

Straight across the back, from one shoulder tip to the other.

  2. Chest

Around the fullest part of the chest, tape level under the arms.

  3. Chest length

From the top of the shoulder straight down to the waist.

  4. Waist

Around the natural waist — usually the narrowest point above the hips.

  5. Dress length

From the top of the shoulder straight down to where the hem should fall — full length or a shorter dress.

  6. Sleeves

From the shoulder tip along the outside of the arm to where the sleeve should end: short, 3/4, or full length to the wrist.
